Removing the Toyota Engine
I removed and sold the Toyota 2ZZ engine from the Lotus. I also sold the transmission & ECU (well, FedEx lost the transmission and took 3 months to pay the insurance, but I tried to sell it) The total price of there three items was about the same as the replacement Honda engine / transmission / supercharger.
Toyota drivetrain removed for disposal.
When the engine was removed I did find the cause of some of the noise - the left hand engine mount had broken and sheared a bolt on the chassis, so the engine was bouncing around in the back. The engine mount was a poorly designed piece of mild steel with a stress riser right on a bend in order to make it easy to fabricate.
