Cooling System

The stock radiator was removed and replaced with a Ron Davis racing radiator. This was twice as thick as the original.

In order to fit the new radiator I have to replace the stock dual fans with a single radiator fan, and also lower the fan into the front cavity rather than sit it on top. The new single fan was lighter and also flowed more air than stock, plus I installed it without all the gaps Lotus filled poorly with foam.

The fan mounts were fairly simple - it just hangs in the opening.  The A/C condenser sits on top of the crash structure with some fences to keep it from moving around. Radiator mounts were made from small stands made from aluminum - in the end they were fairly light.  Both condenser and radiator were rubber mounted to prevent fatigue stress.

The A/C condenser was relocated downwards and slightly forward.  It ended up with less shrouding the stock, so should work better. Later I replaced the AC dryer with a new part (from a Chrysler) and re-welded the A/C lines to fit the new position of the condenser.
